You can never have enough news about Blizzard’s games. We firmly believe that every gamer is a fan of at least one of their releases and there are millions throughout the globe that are fans of Warcraft 3. The third installment in the series was released in 2002 and it has gained an incredible base of followers over time. We have seen numerous expansions and add-ons, but the latest announcement about a remastered version of the base game version caught us off guard.
It has been more than 15 years since the original was released and many players have expressed a desire to get back to the roots. The technology has also progressed over time and a graphics overhaul, as well as changes that would improve Warcraft 3, are more than welcome.
Warcraft 3: Reforged will be the official name of the remastered version and it is expected somewhere next year. Although we do not know the exact release date, we do know that the beta will be available in early 2019.
“It is when we expect to start the beta. We do not know the exact time, but we are aiming to release it as soon as possible,’ said Pete Stilwell, senior producer of Blizzard.
As he described, it will more be “pre-alpha” since players will be able to try out the features as soon as they are implemented. Stilwell mentioned an example of the Undead race, emphasizing that there will be 1 on 1 sessions tested in beta, which will enable the right feedback from the players. This should, in turn, ensure that all the changes are made as necessary and demanded by the fan base.
There is no indication on the duration of beta, but you can already sign up to become one of the selected players that will get the chance to try. Take a look at this page for instructions.
Warcraft 3: Reforged should be expected late in 2019, which means that the developers have a lot of time to make adjustments. Aside from the initial base game, the remastered version will also feature The Frozen Throne. All the owners of the original version will have a chance to play against those that purchase the reforged variant of the game.
