Steam Awards

Valve has used us to good news when it comes to Steam sales for the holidays and this year will not be an exception. The official release date of the Winter sale has been announced and it is closer than you may have expected. The start of special promotion deals is scheduled for December 20th, 2018 and go on for a total of two weeks.

Aside from the sale announcement, we also received a shortlist with the candidates for 2018 Steam Awards. Valve revealed the nominees across numerous categories, but they have decided to go down a familiar path this time when it comes to category names. This means there are no weird names that require guessing, such as Mom’s Spaghetti.

The most important award is certainly game of the year and there are five nominees in that category – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Hitman 2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Monster Hunter: World, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Valve will also be giving a VR title of the year award and the favourites are Superhot, Fallout 4, Beat Saber, VRChat, and the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Some of the more intriguing categories include “Best Alternate History” where AC Odyssey is also among the nominees along with Fallout 4, Civilization 6, Hearts of Iron 4, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. As for “Better with Friends” games, the candidates are Overcooked! 2, a great family game published by Team 17, as well as Dead by Daylight, Payday 2, Rainbow Six Siege, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

A Though Battle for Best Developer Title
