Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Confirmed for a Fall Release by EA

It is the time of year for financial reports as the first fiscal quarter has ended with the last calendar year. Electronic Arts were among the companies that announced their interim results, as well as commented on their performance and announced upcoming plans.

As for the previous period, the guys at the EA seem satisfied with the performance of FIFA as one of their franchises that stand out. According to them, there is plenty of reason to be excited about the upcoming period, and one of them is the new Star Wars game.

The studio has once again confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will hit the shelves this fall along with the annual sports releases of the company. If we journey back to E3 2018, we will remember that Vince Zampella from Respawn, the studio that is working on the game, revealed the next SW instalment should be released during the holiday season in 2019. If you connect the dots, it probably means we will finally get to play the game somewhere in November or December.

A Real Lack of Details

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set before the events in A New Hope but after the Revenge of the Sith. You will play as a Jedi Padawan, one of the Order 66 survivors trying to save his life. Apart from the fact that the lightsaber will be one of the features (what a surprise!), we do not have any other details regarding the concept or gameplay.

Electronic Arts will be looking to get back on the right track in the Star Wars franchise with this release. Battlefront II was hugely criticized by the community because of its unfair microtransactions that had a pay-to-win mechanism included. That is why the in-game purchases were on hold for a while before EA made them cosmetic and more generous.

Things are not Looking Great at EA

In the meantime, it was Visceral who was supposed to work on a Star Wars release, but the studio was shut down by EA, and the project was later cancelled. As far as we know, only Respawn is currently working on an SW-related title. The studio has been rather busy lately with the release of Apex Legends, a Battle Royale game set in the universe of Titanfall. The team also announced that we could expect further TF content during 2019, as well as another VR-only title.

When it comes to Electronic Arts, their financial report revealed some other interesting details. They also plan on developing new games in the Need for Speed and Plants Vs. Zombies series. The chances are that the studio won’t move from the proven formulas, which means that we can expect Ghost Games to work on the new NFS game. The new release in the PVZ franchise should be Garden Warfare 3.
