Onimusha: Warlords Remastered Scheduled for January

Onimusha Warlords

The Onimusha franchise has been around for over fifteen years. Capcom announced that they will be remastering the original installment from 2001 and releasing it in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. While the fans of the series are looking forward to the new release, some of them are complaining about the voice acting, which is allegedly equally bad as in the original.

Before we continue, take a look at the trailer that shows some action from the game:

As you can see, we can expect pretty much the same game with improved graphics and some new technical features. For starters, the visual will be in HD, which will delight franchise fans that appreciate aesthetics. You can also select widescreen from the settings menu and new Onimusha will come with a fresh soundtrack and support for using the analog stick. An important new addition is the easy difficulty, which will make things more manageable for new players. You should probably still expect to die, just not as many times as on normal settings.

When it comes to voice acting, there is no doubt that there is room for improvement, but some would argue that is where Onimusha’s appeal lies.

What Is Onimusha?

It is a franchise that has an intriguing plotline that involves figures from Japanese history and adds the element of supernatural to their stories. It is played from the third person and is a combination of action and adventure, although you can expect some puzzle tasks, too. Since it is Capcom, you could say this game is Resident Evil with monsters and swords. Although it has never been among the most popular series, the studio still pursues its development as it had more than 8 million sales at the end of 2017.

It is interesting to mention that the franchise had games released for almost all consoles from the beginning of the millennium, as well as portable devices like iOS, Android, and Game Boy Advance.

The release date for the remastered Onimusha: Warlords is scheduled for January 15, 2019. Capcom has been quite active and you can also expect a remake of Resi 2 later this month.
