After teasing fans for several days with cryptic messages of an upcoming big update for Call of Duty, Activision finally revealed what the fuss is all about. The company announced yesterday that none other than John McClane and John Rambo will be added to all versions of Call of Duty as Operators alongside a new update. That’s Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty Mobile.

We already suspected that Rambo would be making his way into the game based on earlier teasers, but the fact that Die Hard’s John McClane will also be joining the fray is a bit of a surprise. In hindsight, though, it makes perfect sense. Just like Rambo, John McClane is one of the most iconic action movie characters of the 80s, in no small part thanks to Bruce Willis’ excellent performance. Now all we need are characters played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claud Van Dame to have the complete 80s era roster.

Although the update isn’t due till next week, images of Rambo’s and McClane’s in-game models have already been making the rounds online since yesterday. And, unfortunately, they’re not looking very good. Call of Duty Rambo, in particular, looks quite skinny and not nearly as imposing as you might remember him from the movies. It is worth mentioning, however, that the in-game models we’ve seen circulating around seem to be from Black Ops Cold War. The game doesn’t use the same game engine as Warzone so it’s possible that the models will end up looking a bit better in the Battle Royale. That’s probably not going to be the case with the mobile version, though.

John Rambo and John McClane will be making their way to COD next Thursday, May 20th. The developers haven’t said anything about adding new weapons or maps alongside the characters but it’s entirely possible. Rambo’s iconic bow would certainly make for an interesting weapon while Die Hard’s Nakatomi Plaza would serve as a great map. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out.
