PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was a game that was dominating the market for a large part of the last year. However, with the appearance of Fortnite and other Battle Royals, including Call of Duty 4: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, the game developed by Bluehole has lost some of its popularity. It does still have a huge fanbase, but also big problems with cheaters and performance.
It is the latter that has been a problem for the developers yesterday. The scheduled live maintenance was supposed to last for three hours, but some technical issues appeared suddenly and extended the maintaining process to a total of five hours. For the problems to be worse, the connectivity issues haven’t ended then. Some of the regions of the world continued experiencing unforeseen “network lag” detection that wasn’t supposed to be happening.
The problems started early on Wednesday when it was apparent that the maintenance will last longer than expected. Three hours was apparently not enough for everything that the developers wanted to improve when it comes to performance. They announced that they will work on the servers for an additional two hours, but it took four hours until the next update on Twitter. In it, the developers mentioned that they are aware of the problems with connectivity in some regions and that they are working diligently on resolving the issue.
The studio was aware that they will have to react quickly so that the players’ anger because of this issue wouldn’t last too long. That is why they decided on the old but effective method – give away some items for free. As a result, all PC players are now eligible for a cool bonus.
The bonus involves a cool beanie with the dominating black color and red headphones around it. However, that is not everything as the players will also receive 20,000 BP. Both of these rewards can be picked up until October 23rd at 5 PM PDT. All that you have to do is to be a PC player and log into the game within the given timeframe.
