Although we still do not have an exact date of release, we are thrilled that CD Projekt Red is talking about their new game Cyberpunk 2077 everywhere. Not only we had the chance to see an announcement trailer on E3, but we also got a 48-minute gameplay footage. There is no doubt that we are expecting the game to release in 2019 and it seems that Maciej Pietras, the Head of the Cinematic Animation department, shares that opinion.
CG Magazine made an interesting interview with Pietras. He said that the game was optimized for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 from the beginning.
“That is why we were optimizing CP2077 for these consoles, as well as for PC. In the footage you had the chance to see, it is not an extremely powerful computer that runs the game,” says Pietras.
In the time of the first trailer about the story, the gaming community was in doubt whether Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for consoles of the current generation or next-gen platforms. However, the fact that Pietras confirmed they will develop the game for PS4 and Xbox One supports the idea that there will be no further delays when it comes to the release.
“For PC, we are trying not to overwhelm the GPU or the machine itself too much. From the beginning, we tried to implement features in a way that isn’t too burdening. We have also been learning how streaming works and how we can use an innovative approach to accelerate optimizing the game. The truth is that the optimization doesn’t cost too much and we are proud to have such an expert team of programmers that work relentlessly every day. The demo you have seen was played in real time, which means that everything is portrayed accurately and we are not hiding anything.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by CD Projekt Red, the team behind The Witcher series. It is an adaptation of Cyberpunk 2020, a tabletop game from 1988. It is expected to be played from the first person and it will essentially be a role-playing game. There is no official release date for CP2077.
