The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition Features Challenging Combat

The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition

Are you getting bored of The Witcher 3? Even if that might not be the case, perhaps you have an issue with the combat system that focuses on action rather than presenting a challenge to players. That is what the modders at Nexusmods tried (and succeeded) to improve in The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition. Before we dig into the features, let’s mention that this is not an official mod, but one that was made by the fans.

The first thing you will notice when you try this version is that there is no more auto-targeting. That feature has been completely removed, and you can’t use it anymore, which makes the battle tougher immediately. On the plus side, you now have the option of controlling swing distance, as well as dealing damage to specific body parts such as legs or head. Of course, you can also take a blow to those areas, but there are new ways to counter opponent’s attacks that might help you. Aside from that, you will notice a bunch of new stats that will influence speed, damage, and other areas.

You can watch the combat tutorial for this mod on YouTube and see how the in-depth action works.

Say Goodbye to Leveling

The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition adjusts the combat, but there is another change that overhauls the gaming experience. In here, there is no leveling, which means that the skill upgrade system is out. You can’t even improve Geralt, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t develop. Instead, his progression is organic. Using the abilities to perform heavy or fast attacks, counter, block, cast signs or create items, will improve his skills in their respective paths. If you think about it, that makes sense, because performing a lot of blocks will get you better at blocking.

There were some modifications to the AI, too. The opponents now seem more aggressive, they come in various sizes, and some of them even wear armor. That is just a portion of the changes, and you can check out the entire list on the official page.

The popularity of TW3 Enhanced Edition is unquestionable. It has almost 20,000 downloads and over 230,000 views. The latest 2.51 version of the mod was released on November 19, 2017, but the authors continuously work on it. They are improving the issues and adding new features with every update to create an immense gaming experience for all lovers of the franchise.
