Homescapes Review – A New Adventure of Our Favorite Butler

Homescapes Review – A New Adventure of Our Favorite Butler

King made incredible success in the match-3 genre with Candy Crush Saga, and Playtrix built on that with Gardenscapes by implementing the decorating element with it. Now the company has released a spin-off of that game in the form of Homescapes. The new title once again allows the player to help Austin, the butler, but this time you are on the task of renovating his old house.

There Is No Vacation for Butlers

At the beginning of Homescapes, we see that Austin is heading for a holiday to his childhood house. But as soon as he gets there, our favorite butler realizes that the house is falling apart. Furthermore, his parents are too old to keep it in shape, and they share their plans on selling with Austin. The news hits our hero because of all the memories of growing up in his home.

He can’t make peace with his parents’ decision, so he decides to completely renovate the house hoping that will keep his mom and dad from selling it. You are there to help him on this mission by completing levels, earning stars and choosing best pieces of furniture. By working together with Austin, your task is to return his home to great look from the past.

More of the same, Please!

The concept is the same as in Gardenscapes, except this time you are doing some interior design. That means that a lot of match-3 fun waits in this game. The gameplay mechanics work like this – Austin will walk around the house finding tasks to do. He will then place those assignments on his to-do list on the tablet (yes, he is a modern butler that knows his way around gadgets).

Each task requires a certain amount of stars to complete. You will be playing match-3 levels to help your friend earn those stars and finish assignments. You can only play one stage at a time in Homescapes, and you can’t return to previous levels. Also, the stars you earn for completing a stage don’t vary. It’s always the same – one level gets you one star.

Wake Up the Interior Designer within You

Austin starts by renovating his childhood room. Cleaning it, replacing armchair and couch, as well as carpet and bookcase, those are all the tasks you need to complete during the early phases of the game. The butler will share details from the time he was growing up, as well as his happiness that his home looks beautiful once again.

Now, if you are not into whole interior design, there is no need to waste time on the task of redecorating the house. The game gives you the option just to have some meaningless match-3 fun. However, it’s a shame not to make the most out of both sides of the release, especially because of the witty and creative comments Austin makes.

Power Up and Get Ready for Some Fun

The graphics, just like the gameplay, remind of the previous release in the series. Your goal is to match at least three tiles of the same color to make them vanish. Some power-ups and boosters can help you on the way. Bursting four tiles in a row builds a rocket, which can be used to remove all the tiles from the column or row. You can also make bombs, paper planes, and rainbow balls, and each one of them works to your benefit.

The objectives vary depending on the stage. You might have the task of spreading the carpet on the gaming board or getting some donuts to the bottom of the screen. Overall, this keeps things interesting, and playing levels in Homescapes never get boring. The difficulty of the stages also varies, and it depends on your skills. There might be a hard level in the beginning, but a piece of cake one in the later phase.

Take on an Amazing Adventure with Austin!

The main protagonist of the game is a person you have to love. His dedication and wits are incredible, and communication with NPCs is brilliant and creative. The authors carefully developed the plot to make sure it contributes to a match-3 experience that’s addictive itself. There’s also plenty of hacks and cheats already out, so if you ever get stuck then you should go here.

As you progress through the levels, you will renovate the mansion and reveal a bunch of things about Austin and his family. So, if you ever wanted to find out more about your favorite butler, head to the Google Play or Apple App Store and download Homescapes immediately. The game is available for free, but there are in-app purchases available to make your in-game life easier.

Besides programming and cars, I love video games and I have a huge passion for tech. That’s why I’m up to date with every new thing that comes out. In my spare time I write because I enjoy sharing my ideas and thoughts with people.
